Talk Direct Message

Collaborate with coworkers and supervisors with direct messaging through Talk.

Open the Chat panel to start a new one-on-one chat with another user or continue a chat conversation. You can also mute the a one-on-one conversation and block and unblock users. To see information about working with chat groups, see Talk Groups.

To direct message someone from Talk mobile

  1. Tap Chat.
  2. Tap (top-right).
  3. Search for and select a user. A message view opens.
  4. Type your message, add videos, photos, or documents if needed, and tap Send >.

To direct message someone from Talk desktop

  1. Click Talk chat icon . The Chat panel opens.
  2. Click New Message.
  3. On the Direct Message tab, search for a user. Click Show More to expand the search results.
  4. Select a user. A message window opens. If you already have three chat windows open, the oldest message closes. Only three messages can be open at a time.
  5. Type your message, click + to add videos, photos, GIFs, emojis, or documents as needed, and click Send >.

To block or unblock a user in a Talk chat message

You can block and unblock users in Talk chat conversations.

To block or unblock a user in Talk mobile

  1. Tap Chat.
  2. Select a one-on-one chat (a chat not part of a group).
  3. Tap the more menu
  4. Tap Block or Unblock.

To block or unblock a user in the Talk desktop

  1. Click Talk chat icon. The Chat panel opens.
  2. Select a one-on-one chat (a chat not part of a group).
  3. Click the more menu .
  4. Select Block user or Unblock user.

To mute or clear a chat message in Talk

When a chat is muted, you no longer get notifications about the chat but can join the conversation at any time. You can unmute any chat you previously muted. Clearing a chat deletes the entire message history for the chat.

To mute or clear a chat message from Talk mobile

  1. Tap Chat.
  2. Select a one-on-one chat (a chat not part of a group).
  3. Tap the more menu.
  4. Tap Mute, Unmute, or Clear.

To mute or clear a chat message from Talk desktop
