About Attestation

Attestation is the act of confirming or attesting that something is true. For example, when punching out, users may need to confirm—or attest—that they took their meal breaks. The basic model for prompting is as follows, though some steps are optional depending on the configuration:

  1. The employee triggers an action by selecting an option on the time stamp, quick time stamp or data collection device.
  2. The system validates the triggered event based on the defined conditions and subsequent action configured for the employee. For example, the employee punches out for the day after working 320 minutes. The system is configured to ask “Did you take a meal?” if the employee has worked more than 300 minutes
  3. The employee is prompted regarding the action he or she needs to complete.
  4. The employee presses the button corresponding to his or her response.
  5. The system records an audit record of the action and employee response.
  6. The workflow is either complete or passes to a manager to take additional actions. For example:
    • If the employee selected “No, I did not take my meal,” an additional workflow could be triggered to let the manager act based on the response.
    • If the employee selected “Yes, I took my meal,” then no additional action would be needed from the manager.

In addition to creating attestation workflows, you can:

  • Generate attestation compliance reports to provide detailed and summary information.
  • Create a Dataview that rolls up the questions and answers as well as how long it takes each employee to answer the attestation questions.
  • Create a metrics-based tile that graphically displays how long it takes to answer attestation questions and link the tile to a Dataview.
  • Create a simple generic workflow notification that is triggered by an attestation workflow so managers can be notified immediately of possible compliance issues.
Note:
